Vacation on the Vineyard with Your Faithful Friend!
Martha's Vineyard is an excellent place to explore and have adventures, especially with your four-legged best friend at your side. Expansive beaches, glorious sunsets, outdoor cafés, and many in-town activities await you and your family, so book a pet-friendly room at the Hob Knob Boutique Hotel & Spa.
Bear in mind that each beach on the Vineyard has its own rules about dogs, especially during the summer season, so it makes sense to plan ahead before you bring your furry friend. Think about your dog's activity level and whether you're bringing a car. There are easy, in-town walks along quiet side streets and the harbor for you and your leashed pet. The state forest, a few miles west of Edgartown village, has miles and miles of open trails where dogs can run off-leash.
Oak Bluffs beaches allow dogs before 8 a.m. and after 6 p.m. between May and September. In the off-season, dogs are permitted on OB beaches at any time of day. State Beach, located along the waterfront road between Oak Bluffs and Edgartown, is safe and pet-friendly during those early and late-day hours, but be aware of nesting shorebirds and restricted areas. The pond side of Beach Road is lovely, a perfect spot for walking, and has very gentle waters. At Menemsha's public beach, you can enjoy walks and the water with your pet (on a leash) from May 15 to September 15. Edgartown restaurants that allow well-behaved dogs at their outdoor café tables include Espresso Love, Among the Flowers, and Behind the Bookstore, perfect for that morning cup of coffee after an invigorating walk along the harbor. Here at Hob Knob, dogs are among our favorite people. So we'll greet you and your pooch with a welcome doggy bag featuring gift items from The Preppy Pup, and give you advice on some great places to walk or let your dog run free.
