Summertime on

Martha's Vineyard

It’s summer on Martha’s Vineyard and we are officially open for the season! In the past weeks, we have welcomed back some of our beloved returning guests as well as new friends that have made Hob Knob their home away from home. The island is bustling - restaurants have reopened and are serving al fresco meals, retail owners have welcomed us back into their shops, and another Vineyard summer (albeit different) awaits. If you haven’t dipped your toes in Vineyard waters yet, what are you waiting for?! The water is as rejuvenating as a classic New England getaway here with us at the Hob Knob.

Supporting local has been a mission we at the Hob Knob have supported from day one, and below are some incredible, locally owned shops we would love to show some love to: Kismet Outfitters (incredible fly fishing guided tours led by owner Abbie), Stefanie Wolf Designs (fabulous, hand-crafted) jewelry items, The Boneyard Surf Shop (your one-stop shop for all things beach), Edgartown Books (our favorite bookstore to grab a summer read), Past & Presents (a classic shop to explore and discover antique treasures), and Vineyard Vines (always a popular spot for those Vineyard outfits).

Masks Mean Business in Edgartown!

The Edgartown Board of Trade and the Edgartown Board of Health have launched a “reopen safely commitment” messaging campaign for the 2020 summer season. The campaign is aimed at spreading important information to the community:

  • Edgartown is back to businesses and is excited to welcome you safely to our shops, hotels, and restaurants.
  • Masks are a helpful tool to slow the spread of COVID-19, required by establishments for staff & customers alike.
  • Smaller than usual in-store capacities means that many shops are asking customers to be patient and take advantage of online and phone ordering and curbside pick up and appointment shopping.

At the hotel, we are taking all necessary precautions to keep you and the staff safe, and we know the island business community is doing the same.

Sweeten the Deal with Our Exclusive Hob Knob Scone Recipe

For those of you at home and wanting to have a piece of Hob Knob at home, we are sharing our scone recipe in hopes that you will bake it and share it on social media with us!

Hob Knob Breakfast Scones

Makes 20 scones

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
  • 5 tablespoons minced candied ginger
  • 1½ cups blueberries
  • 1½ – 2 cups heavy cream

Preheat the oven to 375° and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Stir in the melted butter and fruit. Slowly incorporate heavy cream. Depending on the size of the blueberries, you might need less than the 2 cups specified.

Do not over mix: This is essential to a tender scone. Drop scoops onto the baking sheet and bake until lightly brown. Remove from the hot pan and cool. Serve with tea or coffee, or on their own as an afternoon snack.

The Great Edgartown Raffle

A 50/50 Raffle to Benefit Edgartown's Economic Recovery

The Edgartown Board of Trade is excited to present its first ever 50/50 Raffle to benefit Edgartown's 2020 economic recovery! You DO NOT need to be present to win!

The total funds received will be split in equal parts with the winner of the raffle and the Edgartown Board of Trade. With our sales goal of $100,000 worth of tickets, the winner could possibly take home a cash prize of $50,000! How incredible would that be?!

Support this initiative by The Edgartown Board of Trade, which not only gives you the possibility of winning big, but also supports the local businesses you know and love!

As the needs of our businesses become clearer in the coming months, we will be able to more specifically identify the ways that we can make the biggest impact with our raffle funds. We can't wait to share with you exactly how your ticket purchases will be making a difference!
