Daydreaming about

Martha's Vineyard

A Perfect Day...

As we all stay home and do our part, we wanted to do our own part today and give you a virtual getaway of what we would consider to be a Hob Knob Perfect Day. Dive into the realm of virtual travel with us, as we describe what we would do, see, eat, and drink in the hopefully near future, once our favorite island partners reopen. As a show of support, we have linked any mention of Island businesses so you can show them support if possible - without them, this perfect day wouldn’t be possible.

Slowly wake up tangled within our luxurious bed linens and wonder if getting out of bed is worth it. But you know you’re about to have a Hob Knob Perfect Day, so yes - you get out of bed and get ready for the day. Making your way to our dining area, serve yourself a hot cup of Jim’s Organic Coffee and settle in with the local paper, the Vineyard Gazette. Have a light breakfast and get ready to explore the island, starting with a walk around Edgartown’s Historic Village to explore the shops, see the Edgartown Lighthouse, and take a nature walk around Sheriff’s Meadow Sanctuary to start the day with a sense of calm and peace.

For lunch, we recommend a quick stroll over to 19 Raw Oyster Bar for the freshest oysters, the tastiest lobster rolls, and a delicious beer on their outdoor patio. It’s also a great people watching spot, and we could spend hours there. But we’re on the go because we want you to see more of the island! Grab our Hob Knob bicycles and bike Beach Road to Oak Bluffs. Stop at State Beach along the way and dip your toes in the sand and water. It’s the perfect spot to catch up on your summer reading while watching the waves come and go. Want a grab and go lunch instead? We recommend Rosewater Market or Katama General Store - their salads, sandwiches, and baked goods are both something to write home about.

Ride all the way to Oak Bluffs and grab a ride on the Flying Horses Carousel - it’s not just for kids! Explore all that Oak Bluffs has to offer, specially the colorful Gingerbread Cottages and a drink overlooking the bustling harbor at Nancy’s Restaurant or The Lookout Tavern or a beer tasting at Offshore Ale Co. By now, you’ll want a bit of a rest, so ride back to the inn or jump on one of the many buses with the bike, as you make your way back to Edgartown for tea time at the inn. Refresh and settle in with a cup of tea or coffee on the porch, while you make dinner plans. Don’t want to choose? Let us take care of reservations - we can do that and more for you.

For a night on the town, let’s begin with drinks close by on the patio at Atria. Their cocktail list is superb and one of our favorites. Stroll towards downtown Edgartown for dinner after cocktails, at Alchemy, where the chef and his team create some of the most delicious farm to table meals ever. Sit outside on their porch and watch as the night falls on the quaint streets of Edgartown and the gas lamps that line Main Street slowly light up. After you enjoy the local dinner, head all the way down to Edgartown Harbor and grab an outdoor seat at the Atlantic, where you can end the night with an espresso martini and dessert, as you hear the rumble of the sea lure you to a relaxing state of mind. With this ends a Hob Knob Perfect Day. Slowly walk back to the inn and to your room at the Hob Knob, wiggle back into our plush beds, and sweet dreams. Rest and prepare to do it all over again tomorrow.

Island Restaurants

As we mentioned above in our Hob Knob Perfect Day, we love supporting our local restaurants. There are many great restaurants on Martha’s Vineyard, and we would like to share some of our favorites across the island! Explore our Island Dining Guide here.

Island Art Galleries

Art lovers rejoice as not only is Edgartown filled to the brim with unique art galleries, but our very own inn showcases local Massachusetts artists, such as Mary Sipp Green. Explore our local island galleries and discover a new love. Visit The Granary Gallery to view and purchase Mary Sipp Green’s art and more.
